Beforest Hyderabad Collective is a community located in Hyderabad, India, that aims to create sustainable permaculture food forests and collective living spaces. The collective is situated amidst beautiful hills and valleys just 31km off the Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad, and the site work on the 53.4 hectares land commenced in 2020. The collective cultivates grains, fruits, and vegetables using permaculture techniques, implements water and waste management methods, and creates wilderness zones to enjoy. The collective is ideal for generating solar power, and they take inspiration from traditional building practices for their community structures.
United Designers partnered with Beforest Hyderabad Collective to design the 53.4 hectares of land to accommodate 88 families with complete food, water, and power security. United Designers' ecosystem-centric design approach fosters coexistence with wildlife, collaboration with local communities and experts, and co-creation of a sustainable future. United Designers helped in designing the land with the use of water harvesting features like lakes and check dams and the selection of the right plants. The aim of the project is to reverse the impact of decades of land degradation and deforestation through permaculture farming techniques and biodiversity conservation.
As part of United Designers, we assisted in the project with plant research.
